Simon James
is a consultant for well cementing, product development and innovation and president of CS8 Consulting. He has developed and commercialised solutions for primary cementing, P&A and repair of sustained casing pressure (SCP). His most recent assignment was as Cementing Advisor in the Schlumberger Product Center in Clamart, France.
In previous assignments for Schlumberger, in Sugar Land, Texas and St. Austell, England, Simon worked on fracturing materials, screenless completions and drilling fluid product development. He has authored more than 25 technical papers and has presented seminars and given training sessions on cementing and zonal isolation internationally.
Simon has over 30 years’ experience working in a product development and technical support environment with experience in leading multicultural/multidisciplinary teams in 3 countries and 10 years in leading innovation activities. He holds 38 US patents, with 12 applications under examination.
Simon is currently a Technical Editor, and has been an Associate Editor, of SPE Drilling & Completions. He holds a BA degree in natural sciences and a PhD degree in physics, both from the University of Cambridge, UK.
